- Would you wear clothes from a thrift store or yard sale if they were designer brands, in near perfect condition?
- If you had time, would you shop these sorts of locations for clothing and home items?
- Would you use a personal shopper armed with your sizes and what labels you prefer?
- Would you pay 10 to 20% (or less) for used designer clothes (which includes the shopper's costs?)
Let me know your thoughts. Today marks the beginning of the shopping weekend and since I will be out there I'm ready to shop for a few clients on an experimental basis!
Cristy (and if you aren't following me yet, do so!)
Cristy...I love shopping at Goodwill and thrift stores. I too, used to buy and sell on EBAY and it's such a hassle now, I don't have time to bother. I love finding designer jeans & get really excited even if they aren't in my size. I've been known to buy them just because I can't walk away and leave them there! :) So, to answer your question though, I probably wouldn't pay a personal shopper, just because we do a majority of our "shopping" second hand and I love to see what kind of treasures I can find! :) My kids get excited to go look too! We never know what we might leave with! ;)
ReplyDeleteI am all about finding designer bargains at second-hand stores....I have been known to pick up items that aren't my size for friends....because they were just too good to pass up.

I am loving following your blog.
I grew up on goodwill and garage sales...finding a bargain is thrill!
ReplyDeleteI have the time for the hunt but I'm sure that people who don't have the time would pay.
I follow you...

I think that you should totally go for it, Cristy. I'm sure that there are a lot of people who would be seriously interested.
ReplyDeleteSince so many of us are already bargain shoppers, maybe we should set up a shop and swap ring. I find kids stuff all the time that I can't use because my kids are older and boys. The other day I found that amazing cashmere sweater but in a size M. If I knew someone, I would have bought it for $3.50. Anyone interested? We'd only pay what the other person paid and shipping to get our stuff to us. (does that make any sense or is my English failing?)
ReplyDeleteLove shopping Goodwill and consignment sales. You can find new or almost new clothes for such great bargains, especially great for small children who grow so fast!

$3.50 for cashmere?!?! You should've bought it and at least made a pillow out of it or something! I like the idea of a shop and swap ring....my only concern would be people having different taste in things. I guess it would work as long as people knew that they may not end up finding someone interested in the item that they purchased. Are there any websites already out there like this? If not...this might just be the next big thing!
